👋🏻 Hello! I’m Clare Egan.
🏳️🌈 I’m an award-winning writer and freelance journalist based in Dublin, Ireland. I also teach writing. My pronouns are she/her.
💌 In 2023, I created Beyond Survival, a publication about life after trauma.
Previously:
🗺️ I spent the first decade of my career in the international non-profit sector and worked all over the world: rural Zambian villages, Malawian prisons, hopscotching across India, the Middle East and the US. More recently, I ran communications for UNICEF Ireland and Amnesty International Ireland.
🎓 I have a Bachelor of Arts in English, History and Politics from NUI, Maynooth and a Masters degree in Human Rights from University College Dublin. I wrote my Masters thesis on how Osama Bin Laden’s death was portrayed in American TV and film. I’m a proud alumnus of the Washington Ireland Program, and spent a summer interning in the US Senate.
☘️ I live in Dublin with my partner and our beloved cats. When I’m not writing, I love to cook, travel and read.
